Cross-Movement Solidarity: Building Coalitions for a Stronger and united America

| Jan 24, 2024 01:01 pm

This workshop explores how immigrant and refugee leaders can build strong, intersectional coalitions with other justice movements to expand collective power and long term impact, especially in the face of rising climate displacement, economic inequality, and authoritarian policies. Participants will examine how immigrant and refugee rights intersect with movements such as Black liberation, climate justice, labor organizing, farmworker justice, gender justice, and disability justice. The session emphasizes practical coalition building strategies that prioritize shared values, shared leadership, and shared victories. Participants will learn how cross movement collaboration strengthens collective responses to climate change, displacement, and systemic injustice, and why solidarity across movements is essential to protecting democracy and advancing justice for all.
